Sorry about the delay everybody! The place we are staying has no internet or anything so we all have been off the grid! But man what can I say Costa Rica has been amazing. We got into the capital on Jan 13 at around 1 am. So it is safe to say after a full day of travel from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale we where tired. After customs (which took about a hour) we where all ready to find our host who was going to take us to the farm. The farm is located in Los Chiles which is about 3 hours from the airport. So the two teams going to the farm (King’s Kids and Oasis) where on the way. The two cars we where packed in where hilarious! with all of our big packs and backpacks and one guitar we barely had room to breath! I couldn’t move my legs and just had room to lay my head to the right and could have my hand out the window. It was one of the best car rides though. We get to the farm about 5 am and here we met Tony, his wife momma Rosita, and a young man named Victor working here. They welcomed us with open arms and a big breakfast. Tony gets up at the end of breakfast and says “we now take naps and relax and tomorrow we can start”. I have never been happier with a statement in my life. Me and the guys go to our room which is just a little hut with bunk beds. I go to open my big bad to get a blanket and pillow out and lo and behold the big bottle of Texas Pete hot sauce I brought to use exploded everywhere! Great start to the trip. So I then learned hot sauce gets on EVERYTHING when it goes boom. But luckily it only took me about 2 hours to clean-up and then I got some glorious sleep.

So here on the farm we get to do a lot. Monday and Tuesdays are our Adventure/Sabbath day. So a day of fun and getting to see the country and then a day of rest and catching up on blogs and such. Wednesdays we get the chance to go to school and spend time with kids teaching and having fun with them. Thursday and Friday our work days on the farm so we have been staining the structure we are in to protect against termites. And let me tell you this ladder we are on is the sketchiest thing in the world! Saturday we get to go to teach a Sunday school and afterwards play soccer and games with all the kids. Talking to kids without knowing the same language is challenging but amazing all at the same time. They love to talk and its the cutest thing to see them get so excited when they tell stories. Sunday is church and in the afternoon for about 2 or 3 hours we do more work on the farm.

I’m excited to share some amazing stories God is doing here in Costa Rica. I hope to post about once a week without Wi-Fi so I might be a bit delayed. And be on the lookout for 2 a week sometimes and I’m going to have a whole post of pictures and videos! Be free to ask questions in the comments and I’d love to answer them!

God bless and tell someone you love them!

  1. Texas Pete smh! Can’t wait to hear what your replacing it with. I’m excitied for the chance to see photos of Costa Rica. I’m considering putting that place on my travel list of places to visit. Pastor Heard is telling me Kenya is the place to be in October, so I’ve been doing a little research. Glad your in good spirits, I miss you and I’m sure you know your missing nothing on this end. Make great memories!!! Take care ~Shana
