Meet my Team!

So as you all most know I’m in a squad of 43 amazing people. And from that we are divided down into 7 teams of about 6 to 7 people in each. And I just wanted to share with you about my team “King’s Kids” and who they are! So here we go!

Katelyn Elizabeth Hutchison
Age: 24 Favorite color: Purple Hometown: Athens, Tennessee
What’s a fun fact about you? I have a traveling sloth Instagram account you can follow @slothtravles
What is your hope for the race? At the start to grow closer to God but now after a month but now new hopes are also developing. Such as healing from things I didn’t know I needed healing from , building healthy relationships, and learning more about The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Favorite memory so far? (Katelyn couldn’t pick just one so she had to be different and pick multiple) 1. Sitting here doing the blog with Daniel/Daniel sharing about his feelings. 2. My two favorite ministry memories are when i got to build a desk and a relationship with Tony, Victor, and Jonathan. My other favorite ministry memory was building a relationship with a little girl named Mailyn, while cooking in the kitchen, digging a trench, and moving bricks. She then very sweetly gave me her bracelet. 3. My favorite adventure memory was swimming in the hot spring or ziplining through the jungle. 4. Building my relationship with all of my team! 5. Playing soccer with a bunch of different kiddos and connecting with them.

My thoughts: Katelyn is literally a bundle of joy. She is like the energizer bunny (except in the morning). And if you need anything she is always there to help. Katelyn is always fun and always up for an adventure.

Mitchell Vine
Age: He does not give his age to people. Don’t ask me why. Favorite color: Green Hometown: Mt. Pleasant, Iowa
What’s a fun fact about you? I have been a professional clown for 4 years.
What is your hope for the race? That God would grow and teach me the things I need for the rest of my life for full time ministry.
Favorite memory so far? Doing games with children at the school. Seeing there joy makes me feel alive.

My thoughts: Yo my man Mitchell has one crazy imagination! He is so talented in just making stuff up on the fly. He is always thinking of ways to make children smile and teach them in fun and unique ways. His heart is so on fire for God and it is amazing to see.

Ashton Bussard
Age: 23 (24 on Feb. 9) Favorite color: Green Hometown: Sherwood, Arkansas
What’s a fun fact about you? I ramble way to much.
What is your hope for the race? When I started was to learn to live my life in discomfort for Christ and to grow more intimate with God. But now my hope is that the race sets me up for life founded on intimacy with God and creating deep community wherever I may go. And my everyday life glorifies God.
Favorite memory so far? Cooking a big pasta dinner one night for the team and seeing everyone’s joy, which is a way I love to serve and love on my people so it was very filling to my heart.

My thoughts: I have never met someone with such a servants heart. She steps up for everything even if she does not know how to do it. She puts joy into everything that is asked of her and gives it more than 100%. And her pasta was amazing.

Ryan Reynolds (yes I am traveling with one of the best actors)
Age: 24 Favorite color: Red Hometown: Chesterton, Indiana
What is a fun fact about you? I grew up in the hood of Chicago
What is your hope for the race? To not come back the same as when i left. To live a life more closely to what the Bible says and to grow closer to God. Also to show Christ love to people around the world. Through loving people it opens up opportunities to share the gospel.
Favorite memory so far? There was a little girl whose mom passed away and seeing Rosita (our host) go and comfort and pray for her. Because i got a glimpse of our host passion for kids and how Rosita showed a motherly love in that instance. I got to see Christ’s love being poured out to these kids and see a little more of what their ministry looks like when we are not here.

My thoughts: Ryan is our team leader and he is doing an amazing job. He was pulled off the mission field last year after only being 3 months in. So having his knowledge and experience is amazing. He is quiet and thoughtful and always thinks before speaking. And his love for people is so evident in how he acts.

Jonathan “Holy Hands” Combs
Age:33 Favorite color: Purple Hometown: Houston, Texas
What is a fun fact about you? I’m on a country dance team and I am in multiple music videos.
What is your hope for the race? Marriage…..Just kidding, that’s what my friends want for me. But my hope is to keep drawing close to God and stepping out of my comfort zone.
Favorite memory so far? Sanding logs with Katelyn and talking about how God has moved in our lives and also sharing at the schools part of my testimony. Seeing heaven and earth merge through day to day conversations.

Chelesey Rennee Smith
Age: 22 Favorite color: Yellow Hometown: Smyrna, Tennessee
What is a fun fact about you? I write my own music.
What is your hope for the race? To get rid of insecurities and find confidence in my calling.
Favorite memory so far? My trip to San Jose, besides having to go there because of health reasons, a lot of amazing growth took place.

My thoughts: Chelesey is crazy talented and so musically gifted! She is always laughing and just an amazing person to be around!

 

These people are amazing and full of love. I have only known them for maybe a month at this point and it feels as if we have been a family my whole life. I cannot wait to see how we all grow and change throughout the year. Go check out there blogs as well!
