So after man month we received an email saying our next country was to be South Africa. This was super exciting to hear because it would be my first time traveling to the other hemisphere! Also on top of all this we would be switching teams again so a brand new group of teammates and a lot of change.

Before we left Honduras we where scheduled to have a debrief which is a time to reflect and enjoy everything we’ve done over these past few weeks. So our logistics team found this amazing house on the beach where we would all be staying! And it was so beautiful and just so much fun. During the time we spent there it was a great time to relax and spend time with squad members we haven’t seen for a while. At the end of this week the doctor came to give us all our covid test to get into South Africa.  We’ll everything went normal with the q-tip being poked into my brain! And while we are waiting 4 or 5 hours for our results we just hung out and chilled by the beach.

So when our team got the results I was told to put a mask on right away and go to another part of the location with some other squad mates. And well unfortunately I came down with covid. This was insane to me because I never felt better honestly. So now me and my friends had to start at least a 7 day quarantine. This included me and the other positive testers and also everyone we where in contact around. This included in all about 25 of us! We then had to find a hotel we could stay at that way we could isolate ourselves and try to keep everyone else healthy. Here pastor Ronnie came in clutch and found us a hotel and also transportation in the back of trucks so we wouldn’t expose anyone.

This then starts a crazy turn of events. Half of the squad was sent to New Jersey to head to South Africa and half of us stayed in Honduras. During all this South Africa became a red zone for covid which then got closed to us. So then our squad did a 180 and everyone got halted! Now the new plan is everyone meet up in Romania!

During all of this me and some of my squad mates where all stuck in hotel rooms for 7 days. If you know me doing nothing is awful! I get so bored and don’t know what to do with myself. To make it even better my birthday fell on the third day of our quarantine.

It is crazy though because of all my time in quarantine I came to enjoy the quiet and the slowness. Even my birthday was one of the best I’ve had. Every time someone knocked on my door I opened it to find so much candy and goodies! Granted at sometimes I went crazy like anyone would but in the end I came to really enjoy that time to connect with people back in the states! So after are first 5 days we tested again and would you believe it or not j tested positive again! It’s safe to say at that point I just felt defeated. But after a hour of being sad I was all good and ready to knock out this last days!

During all this I did discover how AMAZING the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich is! And man I think I ate at least 30 in all.

At the end me and 4 others finally tested negative after 12 days in quarantine and we started are journey to Romania to meet up with our squad in full!!!

God Bless and tell someone you love them!

  2. I just love your positivity it just flows so freely throughout your message, I can visualize you smiling as you type. ?? So happy you and your squad are safe and continuing the good work you all are doing. Its so crazy how time flies and it seems like it was just yesterday that you left vs you only having a short amount of time remaining ??. Well can’t wait to catch up with you, the amount of anime I’ve consumed will give us a lot to chat about. Miss you everyday and God Bless!!!
